A Robot Maker's $66 Billion Debut Just Told the World Something Important

When China's Unitree Robotics went public and shares jumped 629% in a single day, investors made one thing clear: humanoid robots are about to become a real industry, and the money is already moving.

On Tuesday, a company that builds humanoid robots started trading in Shanghai. By the end of the day, shares had risen 629% from the offer price, briefly valuing the company at over $66 billion. Unitree — officially called Yushu Technology — is the first company focused entirely on humanoid robots to list on a major stock exchange. When a company that makes walking robots can pull off a debut like this, the money believes humanoid robots are real.

What makes Unitree unusual is that it is actually profitable and shipping real products. In 2025 it shipped more than 5,500 humanoid robots — more than any other company in the world — and earned $235 million in revenue, up 335% from the year before. Yet investors priced it at nearly 1,300 times its annual profit on day one — around 50 times what a typical stable company trades at. Buyers are paying for what robots will become, not what the business earns today.

The global picture makes this even clearer. In the US, Agility Robotics is going public at a valuation of around $2.5 billion — less than 4% of Unitree's closing market cap. Meanwhile, 30 to 50 other Chinese robotics firms are already preparing their own stock listings. Capital is racing into humanoid robotics at the speed that usually means a new industry has truly arrived, not one that is almost arriving.

For anyone building software — warehouse tools, logistics platforms, scheduling systems — this is the moment to think about how your product fits into a world with far more robots. The investment wave funds the hardware, and the hardware creates demand for all the software around it. Do not wait for the robots to be everywhere before starting. Build the robot layer now, while there is still space to be early.
